CBSE Class 9 New Syllabus 2026–27: Subject-Wise Chapter Changes (Old vs New)

Introduction

The Class 9 curriculum of the Central Board of Secondary Education is expected to undergo important updates from the 2026–27 academic session. These changes are based on the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 developed by NCERT.

The aim of the new curriculum is to make learning more conceptual, skill-based, and application-oriented, instead of focusing mainly on memorization.

This guide explains the major chapter-level changes in Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and English so students and teachers can understand what to expect.


Mathematics – Chapter-Wise Changes

The Class 9 Mathematics syllabus will see several structural updates. Some topics that were earlier taught in higher classes may now be introduced earlier to strengthen students’ mathematical foundation.

The Class 9 Science syllabus will be reorganized to promote conceptual understanding and scientific thinking. Science will continue to include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, but some chapters may be updated, removed, or expanded.

  • History – India and the Contemporary World

  • Geography – Contemporary India

  • Political Science – Democratic Politics

  • Economics


The new curriculum emphasizes themes, analysis, and real-life connections instead of memorizing facts.
